A New Orleans Summer Treat

One of the most iconic New Orleans treats is the Snowball! On a hot summer day, there’s nothing better than an ice-cold snowball to cool you down. Snowball stands are open for the season despite the pandemic, which means you can get your sugar-rush whenever you’d like! There’s one snowball stand in New Orleans that’s been around for nearly a century, and they’re worth waiting in line for, and if you’re a local reading this, you already know who I’m talking about!

If you have never tried Hansen’s SnowBliz at 4801 Tchoupitoulas Street at the corner of Bordeaux Street, then you’re truly missing out.

Founded by Ernest and Mary Hansen in 1939, for 78 years we’ve been making snowballs with the belief that “there are no shortcuts to quality.” The homemade flavors are what takes these snowballs to the next level. With flavors like satsuma and ginger or fancy flavors like passionfruit, fresh mint, or cardamom, the sky is the limit on options.
